We lived down south for a long time! Ok, we lived in the true south for a couple years in NC then in Kentucky for four (KY is not considered true south by the true southerners, it’s a doorway state;-)
Anyway, the terms used in the south really do grow on you and I have found myself using many of them. It also helps that I have a dear from South Carolina who has properly schooled me on southern speak. So enjoy 🙂
