Thankful Thursday
Welcome to Thankful Thursday! We are looking into a new year, a new month, and a brand new, fresh day in which to be thankful for! Last week we looked back over 2013 to remember what we are thankful for from the past year. Today is bright and beautiful and already full of things for which we can be thankful!!

We have a hard time seeing the blessings in our lives or we want to count others’ blessings instead of our own. Our blessings are gifts given to remind us of a loving Father who gives generously to us (James 1). Our blessings can also remind us of those gifts which are given when we least deserve them, and sometimes it takes a bit of humility to recognize a gift even when it is dropped on our toes 😉
Lets count our blessings, our very own blessings, this year. Let’s also make it a habit to be looking for them. Mine bring a smile to my face and a thankful prayer to my heart. Both have been necessary in my day-to-day struggles. Today I am very thankful for:
~ Yesterday I celebrated 17 years of marriage to one man. We talked about the miles we have covered and the places we have been. We remember the mountains and valleys we have walked together. I told my husband that I am very thankful for the contentedness I feel as his wife. There is safety, surety, and faithfulness in my marriage and I am truly thankful for that!
~ I am thankful that God kept my parents safe as they spun wildly out of control on an icy Iowa off-ramp. I am thankful that He preserved their bodies from harm, He kept the van from serious damage, and they showed their tenacity by continuing their trek south after new tires were put on the van. Now you all know where I get my stubbornness from 😉
~ I am thankful to have them warming my southern home and so thankful dad had the time off to run away from the Midwest and the single digits they have this week.
~ I am thankful for God bringing Andrea’s hubby to the this same military school as my hubby. I am thankful for long conversations, for shared lattes, for similar tastes/parenting styles and for the short 10 minute drive to her house. I am always thankful for the blessings of my friends!!
~ I am thankful to continue blogging. I had some struggles in Alaska and the blog is one of the struggles. I plan to share more of that this year. I believe I got caught up in chasing the lauding of people and forgot to chase after the affections of Christ. I already have plans in place to remedy this and I am very thankful for God’s faithfulness to me and His guidance while I floundered.
~ I am very thankful for the redirection. I believe that God gave me a husband to help remind me when I veer off course. I am thankful for the reproof and for the ability to be steered back on course again.
Here is the code for the button above. Please let others know where they too can count their blessings 🙂
