Heard aournd the house:
“Hey mom, your really have a lot of grays hairs now”
“Mom, what would happen if a whole bucket of lava got dropped on a guy?”
“No, me do it, mom”
“My do it, mom”
“Noah do it, mom”
“Do we have to do school????”

This week for my 30 days of new recipe cooking challenge we had:
Potato bar
Shrimp and Grits
Tamales with chicken fajita soup
And I also ran into a fellow Iowa girl who cooks some fabulous food!! Ok, she cooks like I grew up, so of course that rocks right??? I dream of Iowa corn fed beef and pork… you guys have no idea how hard it is to move away from good, safe, butcher shops 😦 (I miss you Fareway!!!)

There are more good frugal ideas running around the Frugal ’13 carnival. I just wish that the whole country would jump on board with being frugal. In the micro sense, we all generally watch our pennies and cut corners when we need to trim the budget. But on the macro level, folks just can’t seem to grasp the idea of frugal. It’s sad.

Gray hairs get around don’t they.Like the song. You’ll like the “stroller town” song. http://youtu.be/efJj2hqf2VIMaybe you should start Frugal Fridays.
I would love to start a successful blog meme. It would be fun to host, but I just don’t seem to be able to get one going. Maybe the frugal Friday thing would would.I need to check out that song!
When I was getting my hair highlighted the stylist said, “you’re really starting to pile on the greys!”Also, I love the Beach Boys. Their music seemed so happy and clean. Such the opposite of today.
Also, is that your house in the header photo? Gorgeous house and gorgeous backdrop.
Ohhh, I love shrimp and grits! Beach boys, too. Great frags!
How do you do the shrimp and grits? I found a NC recipe (we lived there for a bit) and they have me sauteing mushrooms and green onions with some garlic for the topping. Sounds super yummy to me!Beach Boys rock 🙂
I still like the Beach Boys music. Great summertime music!
Me too, I am playing them to amuse myself surrounded by snow 😉
Nice call on the Beach Boys but now I am off to YouTube looking for the little lady from Pasadena.
Oh good call, I love that song!!!
Stopping by from FF………..what a delightful blog you have and loved reading your fragments from the week. The pics of the food succeeded in making me hungry. Oh, the Beach Boys, goodness, brings back such great memories, even for an “oldster” like me. :o) Wishing you an extra special weekend.
I suppose it’s a sad commentary that I love sharing and receiving good food pictures and recipes, eh? Haha.Have a wonderful weekend too 🙂 Thank you so much for stopping by!
Out of the mouths of babes, right? 😉 I wish my dad had played Beach Boys (love them!) instead we were subjected to endless hours of Johnny Cash – and my dad singing along off-key. 🙂Granny Princess Nagger, 5-dollar Pancakes and Apple Pie Apples – it’s a Friday Fragment Free For All of Fun!
That’s exactly what I thought too when my little guy said that!! I was introduced to Cash by my husband, so I don’t have the off tune memories with it 😉 Now the odd thing about my father is that he would crank those old speakers when we weren’t home, and walking home from school, the house would be rattling with….Bach!!!
Oh, how we loved the Beatles! And what’s a few grey hairs among friends? I have many! Have a great weekend!
I strut my grays, don’t even try to cover them up. I have earned them! Besides, they are coming in true silver just like my grandmother, it makes me pretty proud 🙂
The sausage bake sounds delicious! I made a new pasta recipe this week. I think I’m posting it on Monday.
I really was, but I am going to cut out the egg next time. It made the potato taste a bit thick. I can’t wait to see your recipe!
When our kids were still home and we piled them into the van to head to FL to visit family AND the beach, FH ALWAYS put the Beach Boys in the tape deck. Our kids STILL love them and associate them with exciting beachy vacation times.
Oh yea, that would be so cool! What a great memory for the kids to have!
