It’s been a very long time since hubby has led a marriage retreat, but one of my favorite classes from those retreats is the 5 Love Languages class. The author of this book believes that inside every human is a ‘love tank’ that needs to be filled by someone else. I happen to believe this is true!
This past weekend, we drove up to the DC area to visit our home church in Maryland and be refreshed by our ‘family’ there. It was a delightful weekend of being lavished with love by our friends and I have cherished it all up in my heart. I came home with a full ‘love tank’!! With that, I shall share with you the other things for which I am thankful.
I am thankful for:
~ a full tank!! It is truly amazing how this church family and our friends poured their hearts into us by giving hugs and just talking about life. I had the added pleasure of just lounging with a few of these friends in their homes…just like old times. It is a gift from God that I have folks who can just hang out and be themselves while loving me for being me. I am so grateful for such gifts!
~ Andrea is settled in!! I have been very patient while she has unpacked and gotten settled here nearby. I had to remind myself that I had a month ahead of her…I am ready to go outside and play! 😉
~ my family. I became VERY ill on the drive home. So sick that I had to be helped into our house and up the stairs by my massive 13yr old. I haven’t been that weak in decades! I am thankful for their support and prayers. Even my little guys were telling me “mommy, I’m sorry you’re so sick!”
~ my hubby. He is working extra hard to beat his body for the upcoming PT test. Military folks understand, this is no laughing matter, especially at a military school. I love that he takes this providing thing so seriously.
~ God. The wind continues to move about in the military and not all of it is a good wind. God has been stable when our lives are turned upside down. God remains patient for the right time to open doors. God gives faith to keep our eyes on Him while we are growing and trusting. I am every thankful for the anchor and cornerstone in our lives. Without it I would be lost adrift at sea in this life. Thank you Jesus for hanging on to me!
