Comfort for today and strength for tomorrow

Top Ten Tuesday

There are many times in life when I feel roughed up a bit. Lately, we have been struggling through something that just made me feel a bit like mashed potatoes. But along with these times of ‘mashing’, God offers comfort in many ways: a visitor comes, an encouraging phone call, or comfort from the Word of God.

My daily devotions gave me these ten encouraging verses that I have clung to recently. I pray they will encourage and comfort you as well!

Thy comforts delight my soul

6b1db29a55c9a5a812861cc406db0c14~When I am filled with cares, Your comfort brings me joy.  Psalm 94:19

~I call to You from the ends of the earth when my heart is without strength. Lead me to a rock that is high above me,   Psalm 61:2

~I chirp like a swallow or a crane; I moan like a dove. My eyes grow weak looking upward. Lord, I am oppressed; support me.  Isaiah 38:14

~Cast your burden on the LORD, and He will sustain you; He will never allow the righteous to be shaken.  Psalm 55:22

~”LORD my God, You have now made Your servant king in my father David’s place. Yet I am just a youth with no experience in leadership.  1Kings 3:7

~Now if any of you lacks wisdom, he should ask God, who gives to all generously and without criticizing, and it will be given to him. James 1:5

~To some we are an aroma of death leading to death, but to others, an aroma of life leading to life. And who is competent for this?  2 Corinthians 2:16

~For I know that nothing good lives in me, that is, in my flesh. For the desire to do what is good is with me, but there is no ability to do it.  Romans 7:18

~But He said to me, “My grace is sufficient for you, for power is perfected in weakness.” Therefore, I will most gladly boast all the more about my weaknesses, so that Christ’s power may reside in me.  2 Corinthians 12:9

~Just then some men brought to Him a paralytic lying on a mat. Seeing their faith, Jesus told the paralytic, “Have courage, son, your sins are forgiven.” But Jesus turned and saw her. “Have courage, daughter,” He said. “Your faith has made you well.” And the woman was made well from that moment.   Matthew  9:2,22

And your bonus verse for comfort:

~You satisfy me as with rich food; my mouth will praise You with joyful lips. When I think of You as I lie on my bed, I meditate on You during the night watches.  Psalm 63:5,6

May God’s Word offer you comfort today!
